Air-Conditioned Sightseeing Shuttle

Sealed cabin, 48 V electric air conditioning and full climate control for year-round operation.

LM Series8 seatsSightseeing
  • 48 V electric air-conditioning unit drawing under 1.8 kW
  • Sealed cabin with double-glazed side glass and sun-strip windscreen
  • Heat-pump cabin heater for sub-zero morning operation
  • Climate-controlled battery bay to protect range in extreme heat

Best suited to: Hot climates, enclosed scenic loops. Manufactured to order in Suzhou; typical lead time 25–40 days depending on configuration.

Product overview

In southern China and across Southeast Asia, an open shuttle is unusable for four months of the year. The Air-Conditioned Sightseeing Shuttle solves that with a sealed, insulated cabin and a purpose-built 48 V air-conditioning unit that cools the passenger area to 24 °C within six minutes of start-up.

It is the same LM body and the same serviceable chassis, so operators who already run standard shuttles can add climate-controlled units to a fleet without stocking new parts or retraining technicians.

Design and construction

The cabin walls carry 25 mm of closed-cell insulation, and every door and window is double-sealed. Side glass is double-glazed with a 6 mm air gap, which cuts solar gain by roughly 40% compared with single glazing and keeps the compressor from running flat out at midday.

Crucially, the battery bay is ducted. Lead-acid and lithium packs both lose capacity when they sit above 40 °C, so we route a dedicated ventilation path from the cabin's return air across the pack. Testing in 38 °C ambient conditions showed a 9% range improvement over an unventilated installation.

Performance in real operation

The air-conditioning unit is rated at 1.8 kW electrical draw, which reduces range by roughly 12% when running continuously — a figure we publish rather than hide. The heat-pump heater draws 1.4 kW and extends usable operation into sub-zero mornings without the range collapse of resistive heating.

A 60 V high-capacity pack is available as an option for routes that must run a full shift with climate control on. With it, range returns to 85–100 km even with the air conditioning running all day.

Where this model is used

This model serves tropical resorts, desert-adjacent heritage sites and any operation where guest comfort in summer decides the review score. It is also the usual specification for airport and convention-centre shuttles, where vehicles wait with passengers aboard and cannot rely on airflow.

For mixed fleets, the climate unit is modular and can be serviced independently, so an air-conditioning fault never takes the vehicle out of service in mild weather.
